A 50-Hour Arctic First Ascent
Edelweiss Athletes Bronwyn Hodgins, Jacob Cook, and Angela Vanwiemeersch, along with friends Kelsey Watts, Jaron Pham, and Zach Goldberg-Poch took a trip to Greenland in August of 2022. For 65 days, they kayaked the west coast of Greenland and climbed granite cliffs rising out of the Arctic Ocean. This is a short film highlighting one of those climbs.
Routes featured in this film:
- Time is a construct (5.11 A2 400m) first ascent by Bronwyn Hodgins, Kelsey Watts and Angela Vanwiemeersch in a 50-hour push, with one “shiver bivy,“ on August 1st and 2nd 2022.
- Seagull’s Garden (5.11+ 400m) climbed by Jacob Cook, Jaron Pham and Zack Goldberg-Poch in a 28.5-hour push from camp to camp. The first ascent of this climb was by Nico Favresse and Ben Ditto in 2010.
- Climbing and filming took place on Agparssuit, which roughly translates to “where the gulls stand in a row,” near Upernavik, Kalaallit Nunaat (Greenland).
