Single Ropes

Single ropes are the simplest and most common system. They are used by clipping a single rope to all pieces of protection. It is the typical rope choice for sport climbing but also has it's place in trad climbing and alpine climbing. Utilizing a single rope is the simplest rope system, but it has the limitation of shortening the length you are able to rappel without a tagline and causes more drag on wandering routes. Single ropes are marked with a "1" inside of a circle.

Some Edelweiss ropes are rated for not just one option (single, half, or twin) but instead are dual or triple rated for use in a variety of applications.
